MotionPay Expands QRIS Cross-Border Payment Accessibility in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia with Support from Jalin’s Link Network
Nov 11, 2024
Singapore — PT MNC Teknologi Nusantara (“MotionPay”) and PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara (“Jalin”) proudly announce that MotionPay customers will soon benefit from the convenience of cross-border QRIS payment features in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, supported by Jalin’s Link switching infrastructure. This announcement follows the signing of a cooperation charter between MotionPay and Jalin at the Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) 2024—a strategic step to support the Indonesian Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2030 in accelerating national payment digitalisation and expanding transaction opportunities for Indonesians abroad.
This cross-border QRIS initiative aligns with the vision of BSPI 2030, which focuses on five key areas: payment infrastructure modernisation, industry consolidation, digital innovation and acceleration, international cooperation expansion, and the development of digital Rupiah. By extending cross-border payment connectivity, Indonesia can broaden global QRIS partnerships and strengthen interconnectivity within retail and wholesale payment systems, while safeguarding national interests. This cross-border QRIS payment solution enables Indonesian users travelling abroad to enjoy seamless payment transactions as if shopping domestically.
Yudi Hamka, CEO of PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk (BCAP), the parent company of MotionPay, commented, “The launch of this cross-border QR payment feature provides significant transactional convenience for MotionPay users travelling to Singapore, fully supported by Jalin’s Link network. This step represents our contribution to supporting digital transformation in line with the government’s vision in BSPI 2030, reinforcing a connected and competitive national payment ecosystem in the global market.”
As one of Indonesia's fastest-growing e-money applications, MotionPay now boasts millions of users from various demographics, from millennials to business professionals. In addition to cross-border QRIS, MotionPay offers a range of features, including MotionCash for cashless transactions, MotionTransfer for account-to-account transfers, QRIS payments across Indonesia, bill payments, and digital product purchases.
Ario Tejo Bayu Aji, CEO of Jalin, added that this initiative is part of Jalin’s commitment to supporting BSPI 2030 by advancing infrastructure development and empowering national payment system players to achieve international best practices and enable cross-border payment interconnections bilaterally and multilaterally.
“This collaboration is our step towards unlocking broader transaction opportunities for Jalin’s members. The cross-border QRIS feature allows each member to experience increased international transaction volumes practically and securely. This solution reflects Jalin’s commitment to adding value for every member, driving cross-border transaction growth, and realising the vision of The National Digital Highway,” said Ario.
Looking ahead, both
MotionPay and Jalin are committed to continuously delivering innovative
solutions that not only facilitate cross-border transactions but also expand
access to digital payments and strengthen Indonesia’s financial ecosystem. This
collaborative effort forms part of the long-term vision of both companies to
support BSPI 2030 and foster a more inclusive, efficient, and internationally
standardised payment connectivity.
