Jalin and Bank UMKM Jatim Partner to Accelerate Digital Transformation of Regional Banking
Jun 25, 2024
Jakarta – PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara ("Jalin"), Indonesia's leading digital payment transaction processing (switching) company, has officially partnered with PT Bank Perkreditan Rakyat Jawa Timur ("Bank UMKM Jatim") to support the growth of the digital economy in East Java, particularly for the MSME sector, which is the backbone of the regional economy.
Bank UMKM Jatim is committed to being a partner for MSMEs that need credit products tailored to the needs of the people of East Java. As a Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD), Bank UMKM Jatim plays a vital role in accelerating economic growth in the province, which has the second-largest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Java.
Acting President Director of Bank UMKM Jatim, Irwan Eka Wijaya A, stated that the strategic partnership between Bank UMKM Jatim and Jalin aims to strengthen banking services and accelerate digitalization in the MSME sector. This collaboration focuses on implementing the latest digital technology to provide faster, safer, and more efficient services to all Bank UMKM Jatim customers.
"The collaboration with Jalin is a significant step in our digitalization journey. By leveraging the cutting-edge technology solutions offered by Jalin, we can deliver better services to MSMEs in East Java. Bank UMKM Jatim is committed to continuously innovating and providing banking services that not only meet customer needs but also support economic growth in East Java," said Irwan.
CEO of Ario Tejo Bayu Aji, emphasized that accelerating the digital transformation of regional banking is imperative. According to Bank Indonesia data, MSME credit growth reached 6.74% (yoy) in May 2024, indicating the vibrancy of the small and medium-sized enterprise sector amid the national economic recovery. This progress is significantly attributed to the increasingly robust and accessible digital payment infrastructure.
"The strengthening of digital payment infrastructure, such as QRIS and digital banking in general, has opened opportunities for MSMEs to reach wider markets. This is reflected in the 213.31% (yoy) increase in QRIS transactions and the 10.82% (yoy) growth in digital banking transactions," Ario said.
To accelerate the digital transformation in the regional banking sector, Jalin will provide digital payment processing systems for Bank UMKM Jatim. This service includes managing transactions on the ATM Link network, debit cards, electronic money, and online debit.
Additionally, there is potential for implementing Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS)-based digital payment systems across all MSMEs partnered with Bank UMKM Jatim. Currently, QRIS plays a crucial role in the digital transformation of MSMEs, particularly in facilitating financial management.
"With
QRIS, MSMEs can more easily manage their finances, streamline income and
expenditure tracking, and improve accuracy in financial reconciliation. This
helps MSMEs run their businesses more efficiently and transparently," Ario
concluded.
