Jalin and Netzme Launch Purpose Market 2025 to Promote Sustainable Consumption and Local Economic Growth
Nov 27, 2025
Jakarta, 26 November 2025 — Indonesia is facing a growing challenge of increasingly unsustainable consumption patterns. According to data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), the country generated 70.6 million tons of waste in 2024, and this figure is projected to rise to 82 million tons annually by 2045 if consumption behaviors remain unchanged.
One of the key drivers of this trend is the increasing tendency to discard functioning goods instead of passing them on to new users. Studies by various international organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), highlight that extending the lifespan of products can reduce pressure on material and energy resources while creating new economic opportunities for local businesses.
In response, PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara (Jalin)—part of the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem under the Danareksa State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Holding—has partnered with PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia (Netzme) to introduce Purpose Market 2025, an initiative promoting more responsible consumption by sustaining the functional value of reusable goods within the domestic economy. The event also forms part of Jalin’s Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) program, integrating environmental sustainability, MSME empowerment, community development, and financial literacy into a unified collective movement.

Hosted in a public bazaar format at the Main Venue of One Satrio, Mega Kuningan, Purpose Market 2025 enables visitors to experience sustainable shopping firsthand without relying on imported secondhand goods. By showcasing items from individuals and local entrepreneurs that remain in usable condition, the event keeps economic value circulating domestically while strengthening MSME growth across sectors.
To ensure smooth and secure transactions, all payments at Purpose Market are facilitated through the QRIS Soundbox, a device providing real-time audio notifications for every successful QRIS transaction. This technology offers immediate certainty for both sellers and buyers amid the fast-paced nature of bazaar transactions, while minimizing the risk of payment disputes or fraudulent transfer claims. The implementation also allows visitors to experience QRIS TAP, QRIS’s newest feature launched in early 2024, reinforcing the event’s commitment to modern and trusted digital payment ecosystems.
Jalin Director, Eko Dedi Rukminto, emphasized that sustainability is most effective when embedded in daily life.
“Purpose Market 2025 encourages us to recognize value before discarding. Many items are not truly waste — they simply move to a new owner and serve a renewed purpose. To keep this experience seamless, all transactions at the event are digital, ensuring transparent and dispute-free payment flows.”
Eko added that this approach aligns with the rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital economy, particularly within the MSME sector. Digital payments through QRIS not only streamline transactions but also reduce the use of cash and paper receipts, which contribute to additional waste. Bank Indonesia reports that by the first semester of 2025, there were over 57 million QRIS users and 39.3 million merchants, of which 93.16% were MSMEs, underscoring the foundation of Indonesia’s grassroots digital economy.

Netzme Director, Vicky G. Saputra, highlighted the importance of practical technology for small businesses:
“Merchants need one simple assurance: when a customer pays, the money must enter instantly without doubt. That is what QRIS Soundbox delivers. Once a transaction succeeds, a clear audio confirmation plays immediately — eliminating confusion and strengthening merchant confidence, especially in high-traffic environments like markets.”
Throughout the Purpose Market 2025 event, visitors can explore a range of activities combining education, digital transactions, and sustainable practices in one space. The program includes a flea market with 100% QRIS Soundbox payments, a curated MSME bazaar, financial pop-up talks, upcycling workshops, and a free repair station by local tailors to encourage longer product lifecycles. A portion of tenant sales will also be donated to support circular-economy training programs at the household level, ensuring the event’s impact extends into the broader community.
