Aug 14, 2023
QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) is an increasingly popular payment system in Indonesia. Recently, QRIS has gone through a significant rise in demand. It comes as no surprise since QRIS indeed offers many benefits, not only for customers but also for entrepreneurs who want to settle their payments to suppliers and vendors. But how do we do that? Let’s check out how you can pay with QRIS for business purposes here!
How QRIS Works
Simply put, QRIS is a system that leverages QR code technology to facilitate payments. When customers or entrepreneurs use QRIS to complete the transaction process, the funds will be withdrawn from the e-wallet account or mobile banking application that has been connected. Next, it will be transferred to the receiving payment account, comprising either a business or personal account. This process allows faster and more efficient transactions between customers and entrepreneurs.
How to Pay Using QRIS
For those who want to know how to pay using QRIS, check out these following steps.1. Make sure that you have a suitable smartphone
Before starting the payment process, make sure that your smartphone allows you to scan the QR code provided. The QR code scanner in your smartphone may come as a separate application or an integrated feature in your mobile banking or e-wallet. Therefore, make sure that you also have a mobile banking or e-wallet application that supports QRIS payment. Lastly, check your internet connection and make sure it is consistently stable so that the payment can go off without a hitch.2. Check your balance beforehand
If you already have a QR code scanner in your smartphone, now it’s time to check the balance in your e-wallet account or mobile banking application. Make sure you have enough money to complete the transaction. However, if your balance turns out to be insufficient, you may top it up first through other applications providing this facility. For example, you may top up your ShopeePay balance through your mobile banking application.3. Open the application and click on the QR button
After making sure that you have fulfilled all technical requirements, open your mobile banking or e-wallet application on your smartphone. Look for and click on the button on the homepage that navigates you to the payment section using a QR code. Generally, the QR code button can be found at the bottom section or on the navigation menu.4. Scan or upload the QRIS code
When you click on the QR code button, the application will activate your smartphone camera. Direct the camera to the QRIS code provided by the cashier or printed on the bill. Make sure that the QRIS code is clearly captured by the camera. Other than directly scanning the QRIS code provided by vendors, you may also upload the QR code saved in Photos or Album on your phone.5. Enter the amount and PIN
After scanning or uploading the QRIS code, the application will show you the payment details, including the receiver’s name and the amount that must be paid. When the nominal payment is shown on the screen, you only need to enter it manually according to what the cashier states. Next, enter the PIN to continue the payment process. Make sure that all information shown on the screen aligns with the transaction details, such as the merchant’s name and payment amount.6. Save and show the payment receipt
After the payment is completed, the application will display the payment receipt in digital form. Therefore, make sure that you save this payment receipt on your devices or send it via email or text message to the receiving party. If you use the QRIS payment method for offline stores, you may show it directly to the cashier or staff on duty. So, above are the six ways to pay using QRIS which make completing financial transactions easier for both customers and business owners. As a business owner, you can now settle your payment obligations easily to suppliers and vendors using this method.
