1. Contact the Official Call Center

Take note of the official call center of the bank issuing the swallowed ATM card. Make sure the call center is taken through the official website of the ATM card issuing bank to avoid fraud.

Contact the official call center and explain the problem that occurs with the swallowed ATM card, then ask to block your card. Next, the bank will first ask for identity verification such as personal data, account number, biological mother’s name, and other supporting data.

Report the ATM card swallowed by the machine within a maximum period of 1 x 24 hours to avoid further difficulties in processing.

2. Report the Loss to the Authorities

If you do not report the loss to the bank issuing the ATM card, the problem will be the responsibility of the ATM card owner. Prepare several supporting documents such as a letter of loss from the authorities if the ATM card issuing bank requests it.

While the bank issuing the swallowed ATM card requires the loss of the letter, you can go to the nearest police station to report the loss and get a loss statement. If it turns out that you don’t need a letter of loss from the police, you can immediately apply for a new ATM card to be issued to the relevant bank.

3. Go to the Issuing Bank Branch Office

After you contact the official call center of the ATM card issuing bank, you will be asked to go to the nearest bank branch office with the requirements that were previously requested via the call center. Several documents are needed, such as identity cards or ID cards, savings books, and a certificate stating the loss from the police. However, not all ATM card issuing banks require a letter of loss from the police.

4. Apply for a New ATM Card

After the process of losing an ATM card is fulfilled, you can immediately apply for a new ATM card issuance. Visit the branch office or the center of the card issuing bank, you will be directed to the customer service of the designated bank to process the application for a new ATM card.

Next you will be asked to create a new PIN for a new ATM card on the EDC (Electronic Data Capture) machine. Making a new ATM card is subject to a fee and the amount depends on the policy of each bank.
